The weekend Backpack Program was developed by the Bracken County Family Resource Center in response to an alarming number of students going without food on non-school days. This program sends food packs containing 6-8 shelf stable items home with students weekly. We are currently serving 57 students, however this number continues to grow weekly. The Backpack program is funded 100% on community donations.
You can help by donating any of the following items:
Individual juice boxes or pouches
Cans of soup, chef Boyardee, Vienna sausages, etc.
Packs of peanut butter & crackers or cheese & crackers
Breakfast items such as pop tarts, small cereals, granola bars, cereal bars
Any individually packaged snack item such as fruit snacks, chips, cookies, goldfish crackers
Fruit, Jello, or pudding cups
There is a drop off bin located by the front door. If you have any questions or would like more information, you can contact the Family Resource Center at 606-735-3349 or see Trish Conley and Kamon Cucchiara.
